Treatment of Periodontal Disease
If you’re diagnosed with periodontal disease, we may recommend various types of therapy. Non-surgically treatment is aimed at removal of bacterial plaque and calculus accumulations on and around the teeth. We will allow your tissues to heal for 4-6 weeks. At that time, we evaluate the healing of the gum tissue and re-evaluate the depths of the pockets. We will then determine if any further treatment is necessary depending upon the tissue responses. Periodontal surgery may be necessary when the tissue pockets around your teeth remain unhealthy and cannot be repaired with non-surgical treatment. Whether you need non-surgical therapy, surgical therapy, or both, we strive to achieve tissue health with shallow pocket depths and adequate bone contours around your teeth. Maintaining tissue health through good oral hygiene procedures and frequent periodontal maintenance provides you with the best opportunity to maintain your teeth over time.
